We just built our dream home at the top of a mountain in Lewisberry, PA this year. After a 2-hour power outage, we decided one of our final projects would be a Generac 14kW generator. It went in without a hitch and operated well during testing and small outages. As hurricane Irene approached, we were concerned about the high winds taking out trees and subsequent power loss. Of course, we were confident that the generator would do its part if we did have a power failure. At about 2:30AM Sunday morning we heard the generator turn on. We didn’t sleep very well for the rest of the night with the wind pounding the trees and whistling by the windows. As daylight approached, the generator was still running. We didn’t think too much about it other than wondering how widespread the outage was. As the day went on we were surprised that there still was no utility power. As evening approached, we opened an outage ticket with the power company. That was when we found out that the power company was estimating that our power wouldn’t be returned until Tuesday afternoon. After some amazement, we began to feel quite thankful that we decided to put in the Generac. The generator ran happily without a flaw for the entire period. The runtime came out to about 56 hours. We used the oven to cook dinner on Sunday night and even did laundry on Monday. We can’t imagine how miserable we would have been without our Generac. It has already returned our investment with comfort and security. Thanks for making your generators so reliable and providing us with peace of mind.
