WAUKESHA, Wis. – November 4, 2009 – To respond to the growing demand for reliable, portable power, the leader in standby power generation, Generac® Power Systems, Inc., Waukesha, Wis., has introduced two new lines of portable generators – the iX and XG Series. Compact in design, these new portable generators are the perfect back-up power solution in the home, on the job-site or while camping or tailgating
“From home use to tailgating or camping, construction or outdoor events, our portable generators provide end users with dependable power when and where they need it,” says Clement Feng, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Generac.
The professional-grade XG Series is engineered for high performance, long periods of operation and rough handling at job sites. A compact design and smaller footprint make the generator easier to transport and handle, an important issue for generator users. The new iX Series utilizes electronic inverter technology and features a lightweight and compact design that makes it the perfect solution for camping, tailgating and recreational use. With consistent, clean electrical quality of less than three percent harmonic distortion, this generator can back up even the most sensitive electronic devices such as TV’s, computers and DVD players.
Available in six different models, the new Generac XG Series offers premium quality for both residential and light commercial applications. Engineered for high performance, this Series employs the Generac OHVI® engine which has a significantly longer life than competitive engines – an unprecedented three to four times longer. Additionally, its durable construction with oversized full-wrap frame tubing and impact resistant corners minimizes damage from rough handling and features heavy-duty wheels allowing for easy portability.
Additional unique features of the Generac XG Series include:
- Illuminated control panel for improved visibility
- Power Bar that monitors wattage usage
- Low-oil pressure protection to protect the engine from damage
- Covered outlets for more protection from the environment
- Start/stop fuel shut-off and choke controls – conveniently located on the control panel
- Circuit breaker outlet protection
- External battery charge jack on electric start models
- Hour meter with maintenance resets track usage
Available in three different models – the iX800, iX1600 and the iX2000 – the new Generac iX Series features inverter technology which reduces the size, weight and noise of the generator and allows for the engine to run at varying speeds, significantly reducing the noise and fuel consumption levels. As opposed to its competitors, the upgraded electronic filter provides clean, safe power eliminating interference with other electronic devices, and its low weight-to-power ratio makes for lightweight portability.
Additional unique features of the Generac iX Series include:
- Compact Size – up to 40 percent lighter than a standard generator of equal watts
- Fully Enclosed Case – for quiet operation
- FlexPower™ -- provides two modes of operation: High Mode for large loads or battery charging; and an Eco Mode to save fuel and reduce noise
- 12 Volt Battery charging capability
- Electronic Overload Protection circuit breaker protected
- LED Lights on control panel indicate unit status at a glance
- Low-Oil Shutdown prevents possible engine damage
