You get what is advertised
I decided that going without electricity and having the basement flood after the last hurricane was more stress than I wanted in my life. I did a lot searching on the internet for a generator that would give me the best peace of mind. I settled on the Generac 5940 GP6500- 6500 Watt Portable Generator (5940).
I paid for the tail gate service and it was delivered very promptly and wheeled up to my house. Assembly was extremely easy. I put oil and gas in it as directed, and with one pull it was running. A few weeks later I had the "Transfer Switch" installed and we killed all power to the house, started the generator, and flipped the transfer switch to the operating position. Everything we had connected (which was just about everything except central air conditioning) was powered on. We even ran water until our well pump turned on and the generator never even hesitated or appeared to be under strain.
So if we ever lose electricity again, especially for a long duration of time, the neighbors will see that we have heat, water, and lights. They will all be welcome!
Thanks Generac for supplying a product that truly is what is advertised. In today's world it is nice to see some honesty in advertising.

Powers almost whole house!
I researched a host of generators before deciding on the Generac GP6500. For me the Generac brand was the deciding factor and the GP6500 was the largest wattage I could fit into my budget. It was shipped promptly and arrived without so much as a scratch on the box. Assembly was quick and easy. Had a transfer switch(6 breaker) installed and everything in the house is usable except central air and washer and dryer. The generator started up on second pull and roared like a lion but powered everything I wanted it to power with room for more. I couldn't be happier. Almost looking forward to the next power outtage because I am ready for it now. I have not seen anything on this generator that is not well built and ready to last for a long time.

GREAT BUY!
I'm a dealer/ electrician in Massachusetts and honestly have had no problems with any of the (10) 6500w/e that i have received in the last few months. They are easy to assemble, start easily and with the large capacity tanks, they run all day long. I also like the free battery charger and built in jack. Great product!

I tought it wasn't going to be powerfull enough.
We live in western Massachusetts and in October we got hit with the snow storm and we lost power for 7 days because of it. Luckily I had the GP6500E in my garage ready go. I also had a 6 circuit transfer switch connected to my main electrical box which is a nice thing to have. Connected to the transfer switch I had all of the lights in the house including the outside lights, furnace, water heather, 1 refrigerator, 1 freezer, 1/3 of the outlets in the house where I had 2 LCD TVs with game consoles and satellite boxes and 1 LED TV with satellite box. I ran the generator between 8 to 12 hours a day when it was need it and let me tell you it handled everything very well and efficiently, little loud when near it but when inside the house and away from it won???t bother you at all. One night a ran it all night to try it and it ran 11 hours on a full tank with enough fuel left to keep running for a little longer, (remember only a few things running at night like furnace, frig., etc. (average 500 watts) very little wattage used here only when they kick in). Good thing to have when you need it specially in cold weather.

Powered our house for 6 days.
Purchased this generator due to all of the freak weather events in Massachusetts. Saved the house when we lost power for 6 days due to the October snow storm. We had heat and hot water and a full kitchen to keep us safe and in our own home.

Solid and effective investment that's dependable and durable
With multiple power outages that lasted for a week or more, this generator has been one of the best preventative investments I have done. Originally purchased for household power back-up purposes to prevent basement flooding sump pump needs, it has provided ample coverage for other basics - freezer, refrigerator, heat and hot water. Easy to start and maintain with minimal effort. Simple switchover capabilities.

This product had all i needed for what i needed it for .
Dealer was great (electric generator direct). i would have given this item 5 stars but pull cord did not work correctly after 5 to 6 pulls . i had to get it fixed (for free) but little bit of a pain ,but runs all that i need to run ,best part is its on wheels so i can take it any where .
