Don't buy this product
Generac was recommended to me by my parents who have a large home backup system. The IX2000 worked great for a while. I really liked that I could put it in the back of our gator and move it around the farm to trim hedges and power wash things with our small electric power washer. I ran it to power the lights in our small camper and it ran quiet. We used it during our hurricane in the fall - and powered our laptop and phone chargers. However - after taking it to camp this November - it began to run rough and would not output power. I took it to a certified Generac service repair shop and was told the inverter had gone bad. The service team was helpful and worked through the company but it cannot be repaired without a new 600-dollar inverter. That's almost as much as the generator cost. Why make parts that cost as much as the entire unit. I won't guy a Generac again.

Fantastic job
Love this generator. I use it for all sorts of things and it comes in handy for all the awful weather we've been experiencing lately. I would definitely recommend this product.

Excellent inverter generator
I bought the iX2000 as soon as I heard hurricane Irene was going to hit. I ended up getting the last one, which was displayed and demo'd on the floor, as it was the last one left.
The fuel inside it was brown and foul. The dealer drained it and poured fresh fuel in it and the generator started up on the third pull. It pulsated at first, but what do you expect with 2 year old fuel in it?
The dealer I bought this from was very honest and knowledgable. I asked if these generac inverters has any problems, and he said yes. Common problems they see are carburetor issues, choke levers breaking off, oil sensors not working right, and something else which has to do with power surging but I can't remember the exact name of the part.
He made sure everything worked right before I left out the door with it. And any problems I had to come right back to him with it.
Great thing is, I haven't had any problems with this generator! When we lost power, it ran night and day for 6 straight days. I only shut it off for its first and second oil changes. This guy never quit on me once!
In summary, this is an excellent inverter generator, however do not buy this online. Go to an authorized Generac dealer and buy it. Have them start it, check it, and make sure it's ok before going out the door.

Dont waste your money on the generac portable generators
If you want a generator that is easy on gas and quiet this is the one.I bought mine 10/3/11.Ran it 30 minutes at the house after putting new gas in the unit and the oil that came with it.Took it camping october 20th and it never started and been at the generac dealer for repair since October 24th.Told me the coil was bad and and the coil finally came in late november like the 25th and now there is some other issue sensor ect.Spend the extra money and buy the honda ix2000

Poor service in the field
I use the generator to supply power at events this generator is very loud and uses a lot of gas to keep it going. I have used it 4 times and the power saver setting does not work and I will have to take the thing to the shop to get it repaired. I had a Honeywell which went bad during the first year of service and it was replaced by the Generac model. The Honeywell gave better service but it did not last long.

Worth It
While you can't power as many items on this generator, you also use much less gas. If you only need to power a couple of items, this thing works. It ran 6 days staight for me after losing power in the Halloween Blizzard!

Excellent Product
This generator is exactly like I anticipated. The quality is superb and power output is precisely what I needed. The half power feature is more than I need for most applications.
I have a bad back and this unit's weight is all I can handle, however it is managable for me.
The quietness is excellent, for I live in a close neighborhood where sound reverberates between houses. My old noisy unit wears out the neighbors. I have had no complaints about my new Generac.
Good job with this unit Guys.
