LP Series 5500
I have purchased generac in the past .I purchased this model to replace an old gasoline one It arrived today and to my dismay there was no assembly kit in the box . I'm sure that will be corrected I will follow up on that issue.
Packaging was well suited for this machine.
I have not ran it yet but my neighbor has same machine and it runs perfect. It is a little on the loud side but it is better than most it's size.

Quality construction, easy to assemble
My only disappointment is that it's an oddball in the way it requires tank pressure, and the regulator isn't on the end of the hose like most portable LP appliances are.
Now, to be fair, Generac says right on the website, for use with portable tanks only. But I wanted an actual LP generator, not some converted gasoline to LP model so I took a chance and hoped I could modify it to my home tank (100 gallons). Unfortunately it seems there is no safe way to do this.
It's also a bit loud, but all in all it's a great unit.

Should come with a power cord
Unit has nice features, easy setup, well thoughtout, i like the lay down handle but it has two drawbacks 1. it should come with a power cord, 2. the price should be about $150 less. i would like to see a LP portable in 7500 watt.

You get what you pay for!
The age old saying of "You get what you pay for" is a positive comment to the LP5500 generator I received two days ago. Outstanding packaging, excellent documentation, easy to set-up, easier to start. The fit and finish of this generator is great! Everything you need to get the generator ready to run is included in the package. I was not disappointed by the value received by purchasing this generator. Highly recommended - you will not be disappointed.

Easy to set up and run
So far it has worked well in a test run. It was easy to set up and started with no problems. It is much louder than I thought a propane unit would be and I wish it had an Amp meter.

This first CARB (approved for sale in California) propane model I could find.
There was a problem on setup; the flanges on the tank holder platform where the supporting pins insert were both bent outward about 45 degrees, so the platform could not be lowered until they were straightened. One side was crimped enough that I had to re-drill the pin hole to get the pin to fit. I could not see how this could have happened accidentally in shipping. Problems at the factory?

Great Product Smart Choice
This is a great product backed by a great name. This machine was easy to assemble and easy to move. The Noise level is quieter than expected, you can easily have a conversation without yelling at the guy standing next to you. I purchased this unit with no thought of using it with a 20 or 30 pound tank... I own a 120 gallon or 420 pound above ground tank. The local gas company came out and the service tech had everything i needed to make it work! I hook up to house using the 240 plug with transfer switch and it runs all the lights, tvs internet microwave in the house as well as ceiling fans, refrigerator and two window ac units i didnt try the central ac or water heater. but this unit is amazing and in southern Louisiana its so hard to get gas after a hurricane this is the answer to my problems biggest problem being no natural gas available.DONT HESITATE BUY THIS UNIT!!!

am a portable generator fanatic
after owning a lot of gas portables I could not wait to get a propane model. if you understand gasoline and the problems associated with gas you will understand what im talking about, throw your gas away and step up to propane.the new lp5500 started on second pull and really is a lot quietier than the gas model I have owned.i am a little worried about the hd distortion and running my new appliances but I am studying it
