Outstanding generator!
Purchased back in Feb 2011 and have not had a reason to use it until today, smack in the middle of Hurricane Irene. Going in to the weekend, I made sure the batttery was charged up. It kicked-over with no problem, plugged it in, threw the xfer switches, and it got me through a 7-hour power outage, in the middle of pouring rain and 40+ mph winds, with all the comforts of home ..TV, fridge, internet, grinder pump, and most importantly, my instant coffee machine! Even under full load, it barely went above 2 bars on the power meter. Highly recommended!!

Quality Generator
After hurricane Irene (lost power for 5 days) we decided a backup generator was in our future. After extensive research I selected the XG8000E for its features, power capacity and low THD. Setup was extremely easy and the unit started on the first try. Two days later I decided to connect the generator to the house and give it a full test. Tried to start it and it would not start. After many attempts I noticed there was an air pocket in the fuel filter (located in fuel line between the tank and the carb). Since the filter inlet/outlet is horizontal I turned it vertical. Unit started on the next try. In fairness I had only a small amount of fuel in the tank. Others have said you should mostly fill the tank and let it stand for a few minutes after opening fuel shutoff. The generator was more than enough to power the house. Overall pleased with the gen set and recommend it!

Great for back up power
I bought this unit at Lowe's this weekend. The setup was easy but it took a while for the engine to get primed. It took about 15min before I got it started with the electric start. It would be nice if there was a dip stick on the oil cap because it's hard to tell when the oil is touching the threads. I checked the output voltage and it was perfect. The frequency was 64Hz.

NICE GENERATOR
FINALLY GOT IT HOOKED UP AND DID AN ALMOST FULL LOAD TEST ON 3-11...RAN GREAT WITH NO PROBLEMS..THE ONLY ISSUES ARE FEATURES....UNIT SHOULD HAVE A DIP STICK ON THE OIL FILLER CAP....THE LOAD INDICATOR IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE IF YOU ARE IN A SUNNY CONDITION...THE LAST ITEM IS THE STARTING BATTERY...SHOULD BE MOUNTED WHERE IT IS ACESSABLE...SOMEDAY I WILL HAVE TO CHANGE THIS BATTERY AND IT WILL REQUIRE FRONT PANEL AND GAS TANK REMOVAL...NOT GOOD

Fantastic Product
I did a fair amount of research prior to selecting the XG8000E and have been delighted with the product. It was very easy to setup and started on the first press of the start switch! The XG8000E provides enough power to run my heating system, my well pump, my fridge/freezer, and a microwave with enough power left over for lights and a TV!
Here in New England multi-day power losses are not uncommon and the unit ready-when-needed provides true peace of mind.

XG8000E
As soon as I got this XG8000E home, I did not wait to fill up the oil and gas then start just a push of the start switch. I'm happy to have this. My family will not sleep in the cold anymore if we have power outage due to the storm.
Easy set-up. It's a little load but I can live with this. So far I am still waiting for the trans switch which was ordered since early of December 11.
I would have known the right trans switch and ordered at the same time I did order the generator.
I called town hall if I need the permit to install the generator trans switch and the town hall said "YES".
One thing I don't like about the generator is the start switch.
There is nothing to cover it from accidentally touch or push.
I will give more info if I have chance to use the generator.

This product is well designed
Subsequent to hurricane Irene, I decided to obtain a backup generator to power essential items in my home in the event of a power failure.
After extensive research, the Generac XG8000E was selected, and I have been very satisfied with its operation and performance.
