Purchased back in Feb 2011 and have not had a reason to use it until today, smack in the middle of Hurricane Irene. Going in to the weekend, I made sure the batttery was charged up. It kicked-over with no problem, plugged it in, threw the xfer switches, and it got me through a 7-hour power outage, in the middle of pouring rain and 40+ mph winds, with all the comforts of home ..TV, fridge, internet, grinder pump, and most importantly, my instant coffee machine! Even under full load, it barely went above 2 bars on the power meter. Highly recommended!!

xt8000e 420cc 49 st/csa
Bought this when power Co. said would be down up to 6 days. Had a hard time finding one and consider myself to be very lucky to have found this product. Handled my whole house with no problem and was very easy to set up and run. This has many features that make it very handy to use. I like the long run time on a tank of gas which means you can sleep or leave for a while without worrying about running out of gas. I would strongly recommend this generator to anyone. Not cheap but you get what you pay for and this is a great product.

XG8000 Nice Generator
My XG8000 generator arrived on a pallet wrapped in plastic. No damage and the setup was easy and quick. Engine started on the first crank and ran smooth. Checked the voltage and it was consistent and within range. Nice product. Plan to install a manual transfer switch in the next few weeks. Also is portable and will use it to power a paint sprayer to paint our board fence.

Perfect for backup power needed for our home.
Perfect for the backup power needed for our home. We wanted this for emergencies so that we could still function around the house. Just what we were needing.

Worth the money.
Purchased after Washington tornado. Assembled in the dark and ran for 3 days without a problem. Powered everything except dryer. Needs a way to drain fuel for storage.

Happy with my XG8000E
I picked up my new XG8000E on 11/7/2013. I chose the Generac brand on the advise of my Father and Brother, who are both master electricians. I chose the XG8000E for its features and the fact that it is Made in the USA. Setup on this unit was easy. My wife put it together for me while I was at work. I added the proper amount of oil and put the battery on the supplied charger for about 2 hours. The generator sat for the next 10 days, waiting for me to test it. My opportunity arrived at 4:00 am after the power had already been out for several hours and the rain had finally stopped coming down sideways (high winds). I rolled the generator out, poured in 5 gallons of gas and hoped for the best. Turn on gas, pull choke, hit the start button. 8000 watts of power instantly came to life. I checked the output voltage before connecting anything, because of some of the reviews I had seen on line. 115v nice and steady. I didn't have a transfer switch in place yet so we had to rely on my collection of HD extension cords to power up the chest freezer, fridge, lights, etc. Only managed to light up one lamp on the five lamp PowerBar. I got up to two when I made breakfast on the electric griddle, and a pot of coffee. It would be another 24 hours before our power was restored.
The clean power supplied by this new unit allowed us to watch our TV, charge our cell phones, run our PC and recharge my wife's Kindle. The old generator power we had was to "dirty", and some of these machines would not function properly.
Pros for the XG8000E, the control panel is great. Everything is right where you need it, LED lights, receptacles are up high, fuel, choke and start/stop. No crawling around the machine looking for what you need to get at. 9 gallon tank with gage, flip up handle worked fine. Seems very easy on the gas, given the power output of this machine. Plus, it looks really cool for a generator!
Cons for the XG8000E, the plastic wheels will have to convince me. My choke knob would not push back in the first time I started it. I had to reach around the side and push it back to the open position. Seems OK now, after working it back and forth awhile. Spark plug and battery access should be more convenient on a machine of this nature. Fuel tends to splash back when refueling, if you pour too fast though the inlet screen in the tank.
I don't have a lot of time on this generator yet, bot so far, I am pleased with my purchase an look forward to many years of service from my Generac XG8000E.

This baby has it all!
Generac is a name well known to me for its quality products, as I have been in the Home Improvement field for more than forty years. I purchased this particular model for my home after being without power for eight days as a result of Hurricane Sandy. Recently, we had a neighborhood power outage and within "15" minutes I had power to all my appliances. I love the workmanship that went into my XG8000E...it's a solid machine, with all the features I wanted, at a reasonable price.
