This generator serves it's purpose and is super quiet
Was a skeptic but once i fired it up at the Bama game it was as quiet as the higher priced Hondas. I reccomend you try this one out before you spend the extra dough on the name espeially when you get the same quality and value for the need. I would reccomend this to all can't wait for the power to go out so I can watch the TV and not have to listen to the roar of the generator I ha before I purchased the Generac brand. This unit is lightweight and user friendly just turn the gas on and plug the cord(s) in and you are ready for a quiet and peaceful tailgate at your favorite teams campus.

Excellent portable generator!
I bought this as a demo unit from Brand New Engines. It essantially is a brand new reconditioned generator. I put in the oil, and seafoam treated premium gas, primed the IX800, one pull and it started.
Put a 750 watt load on the gen - and it revved up and powered the lights without problem. The gen does change RPM up and down - this is how an inverter is supposed to work.
I have owned at least 5 generators - Kohler, Honda, Tecumseh powered craftsman and a China Honad clone. This works as well, weighs much less and does what it is supposed to do. It's quiet enough. Is it super -duper quiet? No but is is quieter that my 4 ton AC unit.
Remember though - this is a gas engine powered item and will have fuel issues if you let old gas sit in it. Seafoam has never let me down!

First time back-up generator owner
Since I don't have any experience with other brands/models, I'm not sure how useful my review will be, nevertheless:
Set up was actually a breeze. I REALLY did read the instruction manual (and I am a MALE!) once as an overview and then for detail as I went through the set up process.
It is basically add the oil, add the gasoline, turn 2 knobs, pull the start rope. The machine started right up on first pull. Highly unusual for any small, gasoline-powered engine.
Loaded with two lamps and then a paper shredder so as to assess the "power-up" function and it worked just fine. I thought I saw a flicker one time in the lights when I fed the shredder, but could have been the other lights in the home. By the way, I only used one outlet of the two available -- if that makes any difference -- I had a 15 ga 50ft ext cord and at the end of that had a heavy duty 3 way outlet.
As I write, I am listening to the engine run as I allow it to run out of fuel for storage. It does seem to chage RPM quite a bit without a change in load. This makes me wonder a bit about the carburation.
For what it's worth, that is my review. If you just want an inexpensive back-up for low load use, this will serve you well.

A best buy for the money
A great little generator for the money and 1/3 the price of the competitor. Two complaints, too loud, and needs a larger gas tank. Would I buy it again, absolutely!
