This product does everything I need for 3200 sq. ft. home.
I wish I would have gotten this sooner. It is nice to have the piece of minde. The 10K unit does everything I need and more. Typically outages are a day or less but we had a 4 day one. I really appreciate knowing my familyt has everything they need in an outage. The unit is very quiet compred to portable units. I would definately recommend this to anyone in the market for a back-up generator.

One of the best investment I ever made
After my basement flooded twice I added more sump pumps, but if the power went out we still had problem. The stand by generator has solved that problem. It really gives us peace of mind, and works great.

The generator gave us piece of mind.
My husband is in a wheelchair, being without power while I was at work was an issue. Since installing the generator if we lose power I no longer need to worry, since most of the house now runs on the generator. It was a small price to pay for piece of mind for both of us.

I am sleeping through the night...
Moved into our dream house only to find out that the entire neighborhood loses electricity 3-5 times per summer. With a sump pump that never quits, this is totally unacceptable. End result, we are stuck at home sleeping with one eye open waiting for the power outage and the sprint to a generator at best, the bucket and pails at worst...
Installed the Generac 10kw and lost power in just over a week. I was in the shower getting ready for work. I paused for a minute to listen to the generator kick in and resumed my life. This is the way life should be...
It has run 4 times since. It runs hot, but that seems necessary. I thought it would be a bit quieter, but this seems like a small complaint compared to the sense of peace it has brought.
Only time will tell about maintenance and longevity. But if you are looking for peace of mind, go buy it,

One year in and very happy!
We moved from the city to a more rural area and lost power several times within the first 3 months. We thought a back-up for our well and some other circuits was a good idea. After the install we didn't lose power for 8 months...until Hurricane Irene and the we were down for 7 days. That generator saved all our food, allowed us to shower, and live in our house while many of our neighbors had to leave.
I would like to do our own oil changes but would need to buy a special drain pan since the oil needs to be pumped out. We might still go that route since the maintenance costs are expensive.
Otherwise very happy with our purchase - our literal light in the storm!
