Excellent performance for just over 6 day during Irene
My system is actually a 15kw which I purchased 7 years ago. It functioned flawlessly with continuous operation for just over 6 days. It was only stopped every other day to check/top off the oil. It operated all of the essential systems identified below. This is a quality produce that I have been recommending to everyone all week. It is 'no muss; no fuss' and well worth the investment especially for women who are single head of household. Thank you Generac!

Great Product Overall
The installation was just recently complete. I had some quality control issues with the transfer switch where one of the main lugs that connected the generator load fell off by just inserting the wire. The mounting screw was not installed properly. The installer had to disassemble the switch to reinstall the lug properly. After that problem was resolved the unit worked perfectly. Within 15 seconds of power loss you are back up. I have a 3500 sq foot home and it handles it just fine. I could not test my 2 3 ton a/c units due to the cold weather in NJ right now but I simulated having one running using my electric oven that pulls the same wattage minus the intial motor surge. My advice is not to oversize and if Generac could slow down just a bit and tighten their inspection process, they would have it all. The load shedding feature is absolutely fantastic. I would definitely recommend the remote control module ( the advanced version if you can afford it) This will allow you to monitor generator warnings, alarms etc from your house. Time will tell but the inital results are very promising. Nice job Generac!!!!!

Excellent - the name "Guardian" is exactly how I feel about mine
After both parents passed away I moved back to the "home" place. Our parents added a basement in the 50's to accommodate a coal furnace. There are 2 sump pumps that work great so long as the power doesn't fail. The first fall I lived here we had 13" of rain in less than 24 hours and the power went out! Water was almost up to my ankles in parts of the basement. Mom & Dad had purchased a small generator in the early 80's and had a manual transfer switch added to run the sump pumps and fan on the furnace (they had a gas furnace by this time). After pulling the cord LOTS of times I simply could not get the generator started. Still having an "old" type land line phone I called a neighbor about midnight for help. By the time he and his wife got their generator, brought it to my home, got it hooked up and started ... just as the first sump pump kicked on the power came back on. That night, I fully understood why my Mom and Dad got in a panic when the power went off. Living here as an adult is very different that having lived here as a child!
My major appliances: tankless water heater, cook stove and furnaces are all gas so the 14 kw unit works for my whole house. I also purchased the automatic transfer switch. I am THRILLED with my Generac generator. We have had several power outages anywhere from 2-5 hours during the hot part of the summer as well as into fall and it has kicked on without a flaw. In fact the first time I didn't even realize it was running until I noticed my security light wasn't burning, that is the ONLY thing not hooked to the generator.
Recently the power was out for about 5-6 hours. I later ran into a neighbor who was going to town to get something to eat (we live in the country). They did not know I had a generator so when they drove by my house and saw it lit up they turned around and went back home thinking the power was back on. They were very disappointed when they found there was still NO power.
Many people will find that the cost isn't nearly as much as you might think. This generator is right at the top of the list of purchases I have ever made. As I'm writing this review it is storming outside but I KNOW if the power goes out everywhere else, in a matter of a few seconds it will be back on. I truly do feel my Generac "Guardian" is truly a guardian for me. I only wish my parents could have felt the peace I now feel when the power goes out!

Has worked flawlessly for a full year.
Installation was no hassle at all. It has run a full year without any problems. It has done its weekly test run on time. It has kicked in on three occasions for power loss without problem--one was for 7 hours. It was quick enough starting up in each case that my computer UPS did not need to shut down my computer. The UPS simply noted the less than 1 minute break in power and then switched back to normal operating mode.
While we can back up everything in our home with the 14kw unit, running absolutely everything at once would exceed the rating.

Great product and piece of mind for upcoming winter months
We love our new generac and have one also for my inlaws who are greatly relieved in the event of power outages. We are thankful we haven't had to use it a lot yet but don't regret it for a moment

My husband and I won't be without one ever again!!!
Being "older" people living in a rural area, we feel so much more secure knowing that if/or when the power goes out for whatever reason that we don't have to stumble around in the dark or cold to go out to the garage to start a generator. Plus we don't have the worry of having to fill it with gasoline ever few hours to keep it running until our local electric company can get our power restored. We were without power for 6 days over Christmas 2004 and believe me, we never want to have to go through that again.

Recently experienced a three day power outage due to an early heavy snow - this is the best investment I've made as we were not inconvenience at all.
As stated above, during the recent power outage in New England we would have been forced to move out of the house for three days due to the cold. Having the Generac system allowed us to stay home, warm, and comfortable. Thank you for a great product.

Our 14kw is the second Generac unit we have owned. The first one was an 8kw & performed flawlessly for 8 years. Other than replacing one starter & doing all the normal "wear & tear" maintainace stuff, we were very pleased. I sold the 8kw to another individual & it is still going strong.
