Give a Holiday Gift Right for the Entire Family

If your holiday gift list has only the newest tablets, kitchen devices and hot new toys on it, you’re not thinking big enough. Complete your shopping and guarantee a smile on every face in the family on the big day by adding backup power to your list.  No gaming system, tech device or sleek new mixer works without electricity and in the season of storms and ice, what your family finds in their stocking may be rendered useless if the power is out.

Affordable gifts that keep on giving
Portable generators are a compact solution to many of life’s power needs. From small inverters that help charge your phone or power a music device to LP tank units that help keep essential home appliances running in an outage, gift-givers can invest anywhere from $300 to $1500 to solve for an often forgotten holiday party crasher—a power outage.

Tips to Operate Portable Power Safely
Portable power solutions can be a refreshingly new item under the tree, but must be operated safely.

  1. Never operate a portable generator indoors, in homes, garages, basements, crawl spaces or other enclosed or partially enclosed areas, even with ventilation.
  2. Always use generators outdoors, a safe distance away from doors, windows and vents.
  3. Practice fire safety with generators by not blocking exhausts and intakes.
  4. Before refueling the generator, turn it off and let it cool. Fuel spilled on hot engine parts could ignite.
  5. Always store fuel outside of living areas in properly labeled, non-glass containers away from any fuel-burning appliance.
  6. NEVER plug the generator into a wall outlet to provide emergency power to your home.
  7. Keep the generator dry, and dry your hands before touching the generator.
  8. Operate the generator on a dry, flat surface.
  9. Use heavy-duty outdoor-rated extension cords that are in good repair and free of cuts or tears.
  10. If necessary to connect the generator directly to your home’s electrical system to power appliances, use a Generac manual transfer switch and have it installed by a Generac dealer or qualified electrician.

As a leader in power equipment serving residential, light commercial, industrial and construction markets, Generac's products are available online or through a broad network of retailers and dealers.
