You get what is advertised
I decided that going without electricity and having the basement flood after the last hurricane was more stress than I wanted in my life. I did a lot searching on the internet for a generator that would give me the best peace of mind. I settled on the Generac 5940 GP6500- 6500 Watt Portable Generator (5940).
I paid for the tail gate service and it was delivered very promptly and wheeled up to my house. Assembly was extremely easy. I put oil and gas in it as directed, and with one pull it was running. A few weeks later I had the "Transfer Switch" installed and we killed all power to the house, started the generator, and flipped the transfer switch to the operating position. Everything we had connected (which was just about everything except central air conditioning) was powered on. We even ran water until our well pump turned on and the generator never even hesitated or appeared to be under strain.
So if we ever lose electricity again, especially for a long duration of time, the neighbors will see that we have heat, water, and lights. They will all be welcome!
Thanks Generac for supplying a product that truly is what is advertised. In today's world it is nice to see some honesty in advertising.

This review is for a GP3300i
I haven’t used it very much, just a couple times at home. We bought it for camping with our travel trailer. It is very quiet and responds quickly under load. So far so good. When camping season starts in Michigan we will be using it a lot more. I think it will work great for our application.

Disappointed from
There is an issue with the battery not keeping charge.
I’ve only used my generator to run it at time as it sits. Only 2 hours on it. Now I’m having issues starting it. As long as I have a portable battery charger on it, it stays running. Once I pull that unit off it dies and won’t start until I recharge my portable unit to full. Very disappointed with this generator. I thought I got the best. They are sending me a kit for me to do the work on it. Very unexceptionable. I paid good money for a unit that supposed to be reliable. I’m going to look into a class action lawsuit. They need to exchange us with a proper unit or give us our money back. I’m not a mechanic and I shouldn’t have to install a band aid correction kit.

Beware: Generac's GP2500i Inverter Generator Warranty Nightmare
Our company, a respected establishment in Downtown Chicago with a remarkable 4.8-star rating from hundreds of satisfied customers, has long relied on Generac equipment. Despite our confidence in the brand, our recent experience with the GP2500i inverter generators has been a profound disappointment, exposing serious flaws in Generac's warranty system and customer support.
Unprecedented Maintenance Issues:
Investing over $700 per unit, with multiple generators on each of our trucks, we expected impeccable quality and service commensurate with our investment. However, two of our GP2500i generators began experiencing problems just months after purchase, despite meticulous maintenance by our in-house technicians, following Generac's recommended procedures to the letter.
Generac's warranty department proved utterly ineffective, offering no solutions beyond directing us to service repair dealers who repeatedly refused to honor the warranty. It wasn't until January, after weeks of frustration and wasted time, that we finally secured promises of replacements from Kristin D. Yet, even this proved to be another ordeal.
Endless Trips for Failed Repairs:
In February alone, we endured four roundtrip journeys totaling over 200 miles to the repair facility, all in vain attempts to rectify the persistent issues plaguing our generators. Despite clear documentation and undeniable evidence of malfunction, Generac failed to resolve the matter or provide any meaningful support.
Public Exposition of Warranty Breakdown:
The gravity of our situation was underscored when a prominent figure and their company documented the malfunctioning generator in a video posted online. This public exposure should have prompted swift action, yet our contacts at Generac, Kathy F. and Candace M., offered only empty assurances. Even with widespread attention and pressure mounting, Generac remained unresponsive.
A Plea to Potential Buyers:
It's inconceivable that a product priced at over $700 each should bring such frustration and disappointment. As a reputable establishment, we expected better treatment and support from Generac, a sentiment shared by many in our community.
Generac's failure to honor its warranty promises and provide adequate customer support is unacceptable. We urge anyone considering the GP2500i inverter generator to seek alternatives. Don't make the same costly mistake we did.
1-Star Warning Review:
Avoid Generac's GP2500i Inverter Generator at All Costs!
We've experienced a nightmare with Generac's GP2500i inverter generator, encountering issues six times across two different units on our company trucks. Despite regular maintenance and adherence to recommended procedures, both units suffered from persistent malfunctions. Our attempts to seek warranty support were met with frustration and delays, with service repair dealers turning us away multiple times.
After months of back-and-forth, promises of replacements, and wasted trips to repair facilities totaling over 200 miles, we've had enough. Even a public exposé of our ordeal failed to prompt meaningful action from Generac.
It's been six months since our initial problems arose, with no replacement units in sight. Considering the hefty price tag of $700 per unit, this level of incompetence and disregard for customers is unacceptable. If you value your time and money, steer clear of Generac's GP2500i inverter generator.

Features are good. Instructionsconfusing
The reason I was disappointed with the generator setup was that included with the generator there were parts and instructions for an extension handle. The instructions for the handle assembly were poorly written and illustrated. In addition you could not use the extension parts on this generator. Was the handle assembly included because of the recall Generac has for some models handles. My unit did not show up a recall list for this problem. Calls to consumer service got me nowhere. In the end I assembled the handle as shown in the owners manual. So the setup was frustrating and the reason for the handle extension parts is unknown and why the parts don't work on this generator make no sense.

Product Face plate cracked right out of the box
I purchased the GP 3300i 50ST CO On December 29, 2023 and only opened it on March 10, 2024. The plastic face plate on the front of the unit is cracked in the 12 o’clock position. I will contact Customer Service tomorrow to see what will be done, but I trust the product works in spite of the cosmetic damage. All in all is it is a beautiful unit and easy to carry around and I’m in the process of reading the manual to start it up tonight before I talk to Customer Service on March 11, 2024.
Stay tuned
