Product doesn't work as advertised. Cant even get it to connect to the WIFI with full signal strength at the generator location. Customer service doesn't have the knowledge to fix the issue. Doesn't seem very well thought out and designed. $50 fee to use it feels like a slap in the face.
Love the generator

Wifi info? YES! $50 annual fee? NO!
I waited a long time for them to put out a comprehensive Wifi info system for my Generator, which I love. Found it only to see an annual fee attached to all the info I really want.
Not. In. A. Million. Years.
Not to mention, Generac has lost a lot of good will from me for this move. Given the amount of info and the number of times we'll review it, an on-going fee of any kind is unreasonable. I expect most will do what I am doing now... Not buying it.
I hope they come around on this particular mistake, charge $30 more for the unit and get rid of the annual fee.
Keep in mind I am a customer who DESPERATELY wanted this product. My entire home is a smart home. But you know what? Not one other piece of gear in it charges me a yearly fee except the Ring doorbell. Yup.. Cancelled that as well and it was used daily.

This is a mediocre product and not worth the money. The functionality is quite limited. A far better solution would have been to allow the user to access the generator via the generator’s IP address. This is how any new network connected printer, your home router, and lots of other devices work. To make matters worse, the unit’s ability to connect to a Wi-Fi network is limited. It must be an 2.5 GHz network (no 5 GHz) and it does not work well with a weak signal. This is an outside unit that is likely going to be poorly positioned relative to your router.
I am crossing my fingers it gets upgraded, but for now this is an overall failure relative to its potential.

For the first year of usage 2017-2018, the notifications received when the generator was turned on due to power failure or monthly maintenance runs were routinely 4-10 hours late. Today they are regularly 1 hour late. So while it is helpful to know the status of my generator an hour ago, I would rather know the status RIGHT NOW. Because of the late notifications it is not possible to use them as trigger events for home automation which was the reason I bought this in the first place.

Item is off line more often than on line
When I purchased my Generator I upgraded to the mobile link within six months and it seemed to work fine for the first year. After the first year it seemed to be off line more than on line. When it comes on line again, usually in the middle of the night, it sends multiple messages trying to catch up. I contacted mobile link before this years renewal and they checked signal availability which they said was fine. They provided a reduced fee for renewal and said an upgrade to the mobile link in the fall. The mobile link went off line again as soon as I hung up the phone. I have been told the new WiFi mobile links are more dependable but I would have serious reservations on purchasing those relying in cellular towers. The new WiFi mobile links are supposedly not compatible with previously purchased generators and considering the the help I’ve received thus far, I am quite disappointed.

If you sign up and pay for Mobile Link by following the instructions provided, you won't be able to have your dealer monitor the generator. To do that, the sign up needs to be done through the dealer (which is not mentioned anywhere in the materials). If, after learning that the sign up instructions provided by Generac are wrong (even within 24 hours), thier solution is to cancel the contract you've paid for, keep the contract fee, and charge you another fee to sign up again through the dealer - your fault for not reading the instructions that weren't included, apparently. Aggressively lousy customer service. Don't waste your money.
