Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great. Needs recoil starter redesign. I've had this pump now for three summers. I use it to pump water to a sprinkler system. Does a great job and maintains pressure over a max of 175 feet of lay flat hose. However, I am on my third recoil starter. The cord keeps fraying every 12 to 18 months. I keep a backup starter just in case. I shouldn't have to do this. The cord comes out at an angle and rubs and eventually breaks. Generac, you ask for feedback to product improvements, How about redesigning this?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cheap hoses & connectores Bought pump to reduce pond level. Hoses and connectors are cheap. Hoses leak at the connectors. The plastic strainer (doesn't stay on) collapses after a leave or 2 sticks to it. Pump itself is is great. Threw out the hose and bought Apache Hose kit! Works great now.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Up to the Job I'm sitting here with a 26,000-acre wildfire bearing down on our home, with a useless Genrac ST20K to protect us. I purchased it based on the information available to me: "Powerful pump," "158 gpm/minute," and most importantly, a "maximum head of 108 feet." The reality: With a suction lift of only 2 feet and a discharge head of only 46 feet, this pump could only operate one sprinkler, hardly a help with a garden-variety fire, let alone the crown and pyrocumulus fires that the Greenwood Fire has been producing. And now that I've put gas in the pump, which is the only way I could discover that it didn't perform as promised, I can't return it to the retailer. Also, it is impossible to affect a watertight seal on either end of the discharge hose with the fittings and hose clamps provided - which certainly didn't help the situation. This pump may be suitable if you have a garden near the same elevation as the pump, but if your life depends on getting a reasonable amount of pressurized water up a modest hill, I wouldn't recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap connectors The hoses and connectors are junk. Threw them out. Do yourself a favor and but new quality lines and add GatorLock® banjo couplers to pump and hoses. no more leaks. easy connect/disconnect. Love the unit now... I like the unit and it works great. It would have been 5 stars if the had not gone with such low quality hoses and connectors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performance -- The good and the bad First of all: I use the pump to pump water out of a pond and then through a sprinkler system. I use Mobil 1, recreational gas, it is always covered when not in use or stored inside and never gets wet. I bought the pump in April 2020. The Good: The pump actually works very good. Initially, it was lacking a bit as it always wasn't pumping. I then discovered an air leak in the intake side. Once that was fixed, it worked very good. My yard never looked better. It was watered in record time. The pump always started and never gave me a bit of trouble. The bad: I got the pump from storage (May 2021) and went to start the pump and the starter recoil system broke on the first pull. I removed the recoil starter and discovered it was not repairable. I called Generac and ordered a new one. It was not under warranty as this part is determined to be a "wear item" and is not warrantable. Really!!! My guess is that based upon the design, it would be a high warranty cost if it was covered. This is obviously disappointing. So $50 later, I have a new starter recoil system on the way. Oh, and I have to wait 10 to 14 days.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One minor flaw Bought it a few months ago, got around to trying it today to drain my daughter's above ground pool. When installing the supplied output hose together with the supplied fitting to attach it to the pump's output fitting I was a little disappointed in how small the nipple was in comparison to the hose. When I tightened the hose clamp down on it the hose puckered because of the loose fit. That caused the hose to leak significantly through the puckers. I had to buy a fitting for the other end of the hose (that would connect to more hoses) and the aftermarket nipple was quite a snug fit. Fixing the leaky connection wasn't a hard fix, I just took the assembly apart and wrapped the nipple with enough duct tape to make a snug fit that didn't leak. I just feel this is an issue that Generac should have fixed before putting the pump on the market. The pump was fairly easy to start, ran smoothly and reasonably quiet, and it emptied a 7000 gallon pool in 45 minutes under ideal conditions, i.e. 25' of open ended hose on flat ground.
