Cabo Residence Microgrid

Located in the resort town of Cabo San Lucas, this residence needed a resilient energy solution to deal with frequent power outages and high electricity costs. The answer was a solar powered microgrid built around Generac’s ARC microgrid control system.

The system integrates solar PV, a 64 kWh battery storage system, and intelligent load prioritization features. ARC’s “resiliency mode” conserves battery capacity ahead of potential outages. When the grid fails, the battery provides microgrid energy to keep critical appliances running while deprioritizing non-essential circuits.

Under normal operation, the system reduces demand charges by discharging stored energy during high-usage periods. The Federal Electricity Commission prohibits solar export, so ARC incorporates real-time solar curtailment to comply while maximizing onsite solar use.
