Haley Brothers, a Southern California-based architectural door manufacturer, installed a versatile microgrid system designed to support operational resilience, cost reduction, and sustainability. With multiple value streams in mind, the company chose Generac’s ARC microgrid control system to coordinate and optimize their on-site energy assets.
First, Haley Brothers needed resilient backup power to maintain continuity during increasingly frequent utility outages. The ARC controller manages power delivery to the Protected Load Panel, ensuring that essential operations remain energized through any disruption.
Second, the company aimed to qualify for a new utility rate structure by reducing peak demand below 20 kW. ARC’s intelligent microgrid software enables dynamic peak shaving throughout the day, allowing the facility to successfully meet the utility's threshold and lower its overall rate classification.
Third, Haley Brothers sought to reduce reliance on utility-supplied electricity to shrink their carbon footprint and reduce energy costs. The ARC microgrid controller efficiently manages the system's solar and battery assets, maximizing on-site consumption and minimizing imported grid power—an environmentally responsible and economically beneficial strategy.
By seamlessly orchestrating solar, storage, and load management, ARC enables this commercial microgrid to capture multiple revenue and savings opportunities. This advanced microgrid technology helps Haley Brothers not only improve energy resilience but also realize tangible financial and environmental benefits from their investment.
