SBP National

Located in New Orleans, SBP provides critical resiliency and disaster relief services to communities impacted by hurricanes. Their latest initiative brings clean, resilient energy to affordable housing—setting a new standard for community-based energy security.
Louisiana’s first commercial-scale solar plus storage microgrid powers a net-zero apartment building, where half of the affordable units are reserved for veterans. With a combination of solar powered microgrid infrastructure and high-efficiency appliances, residents benefit from minimal utility bills and maximum peace of mind.
At the heart of this microgrid solution is the Generac ARC microgrid control system, which coordinates the charging of Dynapower MPS-i125 energy storage systems with the PV solar production. This real-time orchestration increases microgrid energy self-consumption while maintaining compliance with utility constraints.
The ARC controller also reserves a portion of the battery capacity specifically for outages, ensuring backup power is available when storms or grid faults occur. Through its advanced microgrid software, the controller continuously monitors load and battery status to calculate “Energy Storage Capacity”—a predictive runtime estimate that helps site managers understand how long the facility can operate on backup power alone.
SBP’s deployment demonstrates the power of advanced microgrid technology in delivering energy equity, disaster preparedness, and sustainable living—all in one integrated system.
