Rated 3 out of 5 by Sadcustomer from Disappointed with “Upgraded” Features Purchased a 30 kW liquid cooled unit. It took almost four months for delivery. I purchased the liquid cooled unit because I was told it would be quieter; there is no noticeable noise reduction. At the installation, it was discovered that the liquid cooled unit will not connect wirelessly and I would, at added expense need to run a line to my modem. So, mobile link is useless to me right now. I have no doubt, the product will run if I loose power but I don’t think it was worth the upgrade. #Disappointed

Rated 1 out of 5 by Tellus from Don't buy. Piece of junk and lack of service The installer registered our 30KW Protector on June 26th. But could not get it to run when they simulated loss of grid. He spent most of the day on the 27th with Generac Tech support and finally got it to work on the 29th. At 6:20 AM on the 30th, the transfer switch shorted out and the Generac starting running. Despite calls to the Service Depot there was nothing that could be done. The installer took it off line and sent in a warranty claim. Today is the 10th of July. The Generator is still offline and the Installer has heard nothing from the "Warranty Company" It is completely unacceptable that a $26K product lasts less than 24 hours and service is not even scheduled. What good is an automatic full house back-up generator if it can't even run for a day and there is no urgency on the part of Generac to get it on line 10 days later.

Rated 2 out of 5 by mds from damage Unit came with a damaged fan blade, and oil is leaking or spilled on bottom of unit. Now i have to hire a certified tech to come out and replace the fan blade since it was damaged in the factory. Unit is also throwing codes, haven't been able to start it. Their air cooled units seem much better.

On May 5th a lightning strike took out my power, in the past that would be a huge problem but not this time. Within a minute my Generac generator automatically kicked in and brought the power back on!

Rated 4 out of 5 by KevinK from Fired up the first time! We ordered a 30kW automatic standby generator for our 3400 sq ft house, and sadly the first one arrived badly damaged. We had to refuse delivery, and Generac sent out another one a few weeks later. This generator was in great shape, and after our electrician installed it and wired it up, it started on the first try. Since then it's been doing it's automated self-test each week. We haven't had a power outage since it was installed but rest a little easier knowing it's there to back us up if needed. The price for these things has shot up dramatically the last couple of years, unfortunately. Our only complaint is that there is a small shut off switch located on the outside of the unit, near the top edge, and it's very easy to inadvertently move it to the off position if someone brushes it as they walk by. If the switch is off, the generator won't run. Putting a small protective shield over it, or moving it inside the control panel enclosure would be a better design choice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Alan from Excellent reliable unit; noisy Installed the 30kW unit 2 years ago and it performed flawlessly through 2 hurricanes and 1 tornado. Lots of reserve for our compound with 2 houses, 3 ACs, ovens, hottub, landscaped and well lit inside. Only complaint is noise. This thing runs at over 3200rpm with LPG supply and while i like the fact ive got >1000 gallons in underground lpg, i wish it had hospital grade mufflers. While im not disturbed, its outside my neighbours bedroom. Im contemplating noise barriers and additional mufflers but have been warned about nulling the warranty.
