You get what is advertised
I decided that going without electricity and having the basement flood after the last hurricane was more stress than I wanted in my life. I did a lot searching on the internet for a generator that would give me the best peace of mind. I settled on the Generac 5940 GP6500- 6500 Watt Portable Generator (5940).
I paid for the tail gate service and it was delivered very promptly and wheeled up to my house. Assembly was extremely easy. I put oil and gas in it as directed, and with one pull it was running. A few weeks later I had the "Transfer Switch" installed and we killed all power to the house, started the generator, and flipped the transfer switch to the operating position. Everything we had connected (which was just about everything except central air conditioning) was powered on. We even ran water until our well pump turned on and the generator never even hesitated or appeared to be under strain.
So if we ever lose electricity again, especially for a long duration of time, the neighbors will see that we have heat, water, and lights. They will all be welcome!
Thanks Generac for supplying a product that truly is what is advertised. In today's world it is nice to see some honesty in advertising.

This washer works great for all projects.
I have used the washer several times and have been impressed by how good it works. I have washed my house with good results. Also the driveway and the shed. The patio area cleaned up good too. So you can see I have used it for several big projects and it worked great each time. I am in my 70’s and had no problem using it.

This product sucks
I bought Generac 6500 on November 1 and right side outlets failed to function after 24 hours of use. Tech at Generac said unit had to go to warantee repair vendor for diagnosis and repair which is hard to find in my area. So I have to load 200 lb machine and haul 30 miles and pay $45 diagnostic fee with warranted. Should have bought a Honda.

Very quiet and portable
Runs everything I need it to- AC in the RV,
Power tools when off grid and it’s light enough for this old geezer to pack around. Also so quiet that I can hardly hear it running from 35 feet away. Will be handy to run the freezer or whatever if the power goes out .

Great for backup power during hurricanes and other outages
We live in a rural area in south Georgia and lost power for 5 days during hurricane Idalia. A good friend loaned me his GP6500 once his power was restored and it saved us from loosing food in our refrigerator and freezer plus we were able to run our well and water heater. I was sold and purchased our own GP6500 the next week. He has owned his since before hurricane Irma and purchased it for the same reason.

Not properly rated
Viewing the schematic, all power, both 240v and 120v goes through one 30 amp breaker. 30 amps time 240 volts is 7200 watts with no more capacity for the 120v outlets. How can you rate this generator at 9200 watts when you can only use 7200 watts?

Terrible.
Bought it three years ago- had to have warranty work done after the first use- worked great after warranty work- tried it today ( third time using it)- wouldn’t start. I had thought about getting a home generator in the future- no way would I go with a general.

Electric start works like a charm.
The ease of the electric start makes this perfect for those older users. It’s a joy to use.
