You get what is advertised
I decided that going without electricity and having the basement flood after the last hurricane was more stress than I wanted in my life. I did a lot searching on the internet for a generator that would give me the best peace of mind. I settled on the Generac 5940 GP6500- 6500 Watt Portable Generator (5940).
I paid for the tail gate service and it was delivered very promptly and wheeled up to my house. Assembly was extremely easy. I put oil and gas in it as directed, and with one pull it was running. A few weeks later I had the "Transfer Switch" installed and we killed all power to the house, started the generator, and flipped the transfer switch to the operating position. Everything we had connected (which was just about everything except central air conditioning) was powered on. We even ran water until our well pump turned on and the generator never even hesitated or appeared to be under strain.
So if we ever lose electricity again, especially for a long duration of time, the neighbors will see that we have heat, water, and lights. They will all be welcome!
Thanks Generac for supplying a product that truly is what is advertised. In today's world it is nice to see some honesty in advertising.

Out of the box
Purchased in early spring for summer camping. Did not use until December and first time running started right up. Let it warm up and would not run with choke off. Ran under load for approximately 8 hours and had no other issues. The problem is that it would have to be almost full choke to run. Took it in for repairs and was told the carburetor needed to be replaced. Contacted manufacturer after service center stated is was not covered under warranty and the manufacturer said same thing. I am replacing the carburetor and hope there will be no further issues. Love the product, not happy with support.

Missing part
I just bought a 9200. It was easy to assemble and it works fine. The problem is that the 20 feet 20 amp cord was missing. Customer center was nice and shipped me …the wrong part, a key woodruff. I hope that I will finally get the correct part.

Manual needs some work
First of all, let me start off by saying that I really love the generator, but I do not love the manual, it is not very self-explanatory when you're putting the unit together the wording and the pictures are too small and the description on how to put the unit together isn't easily simplified. To handle itself I think I think needs a little bit of revamping because it should lift up all the way and lock into place horizontally and set off a little bit on an angle which I feel is a little uncomfortable bending down lower Did to transport the generator. Mm-hmm on another note connection to the battery is needed which after being connected and reading in the manual to push the start button and hold it down until the unit fires up is completely wrong. my first attempt to do this kept flashing a red light making me think that the battery was dead but in essence after playing around enough times, I realized that you needed to push the battery/start button until it flashes green and then release the button and push it back in again rapidly which causes the engine to start. I spoke with representatives at the Generac, and they were not very helpful or knowledgeable on even how to start the machine which kind of amazed me, I had to figure it out on my own and also the wording that in the actual manual is misprinted and miss directs you on how to start the machine, which needs to be revised ASAP. It should say to push the start button in until you see a green flashing light and then release the button and re push it back into ignite the ignition. Anyway, that is one of my cons with the unit, I have yet to really give it a full test of powering the house, but I have confident that it will work to my needs.

Unbelievably simple to use!
We live in SW Florida and decided to buy a generator for future power outages. Have not had to use it until today. Power went out 1.5 hours ago. This is the first time we have used it. Dumped some gas in and it fired on the first pull. That never happens to me! 10 minutes after the power went out I had the fridge, some lights, a fan and some other minor things plugged in with room to spare. So simple and I am far from a handy guy. Highest marks from me

Generac 2500i Inve
Purchased this machine in May,2021 from the local Ace.
Put fuel in and oil and it started after a few pulls. Then my power went out and needed to use it. Took several pulls to finally start it.
With just a refrigerator plugged in, it was running rough. But it
saved the food in my fridge. A couple weeks ago, it wouldn't
start at all. I thought there's got to be an issue and should be
covered under warranty. Nope, fuel issues. Gummed up carburetor. Not covered under warranty. Cost me $110 to fix.
Now the repair place said not to use regular unleaded fuel. Especially when its stored. You Tube said there are tiny openings in the carb that get clogged from sitting from the ethanol fuel. Repair place recommends buying a Honda instead. More expensive, but without the headaches. Fair warning if you are thinking about buying a Generac. Less than 2 years old and already the carb is gummed up.

Does not provide output power matching specs
This generator is supposed to deliver 2200w running power but we have found it automatically shuts down when we connect a load of 1700w. It does run well with a load of 1300w.
The size and weight of the generator is great and it doesn't make too much noise. The run time is rather short due to its small size so limited capacity gas tank.

Got me through a 4 day power outage
Power was out from 8PM on Wednesday to 11:30AM Sunday. This little machine ran flawlessly with nothing more than a couple refuels.
Ran my furnace, refrigerator, a couple lights, my TV, and my CPAP machine with barely a hiccup. Ran for over 8 hours if not 10 on a single fuel up.
Just need to change the oil and check the spark plug so it's ready for a monthly test and hopefully stays in the garage for a very long time. Good to know it is there when needed.
Maybe a camping trip or two this summer!
