Impossible to start
I’ve had this 3 years now and used it 5 times. I’ve TRIED to use it several more times and absolutely cannot get it to start. The electric start is a joke. I can’t pull the cord to start it so I’m stuck with something I can barely use. It’s always a guess if I hook it up - “will it start today or not?” Usually NO. The fittings leak, the hose is very stiff and overall it’s just a bad design. At this point I’m ready to buy a plug in electric pressure washer. I can’t believe Generac still sells this piece of junk.

Tank has a coating that is flaking off .no good way to clean. Replacement is half cost of new.

Absolute Junk. Cant even locate parts to fix this piece of garbage. Used it 3 times to wash cars and clean a driveway and now it will not start or run.

Crank- no Start ongoing issue
Bought this generator in May, 2018. Worked fine for a few short power outages. Live in rural area and need Generator for power outages as we are on a well and have no water when power out.
In Sept 2021, we had a major hurricane come through and had no power for four days. As soon as power went out, we started Generac and it ran great for about 48 hours. At 3 in the morning, it stopped. I checked, fuel good, oil good and had been overall for only 76 hours per meter. Could crank it it but would not keep running. Took it to tech who could not fix it. Paid the $250 and sent to next tech. He could not fix it, paid over $500 for all the parts replaced Next, sent it to "Certified Generac" Tech. After months, was finally told it could not be fixed. According to Tech, Generac refused to assist him any further. After only 76 hours of run time, I now have a 450 lbs anchor as it is useless. Would love to have it working but can't afford to spend anymore when Generac will not help with a known issue for these models. (See YOuTube for verification) DO NOT BUY #Generac Cranknostart

A great product for a great price.
We had a power outage so I went to meanards and bought one. Brought it home put it together which was easy, added the oil and gas and it fired right up. Had everything I wanted up and running in no time. Love it!

Surges and kicked off electronics.
Won’t power my way invertor without surging and kicking off. Dealer was no help. Am stuck with a generator that wont do what a $250.00 used Honda will

Nice Backup Generator for the home
Needed to upgrade my home generator and found this product on sale. have always wanted a Generac portable generator. The setup was simple. The unit fired up on the first pull. Only have half an hour on it so far, but feel like it will be a good investment.
I wish there was a low idle on this unit, but there is not. So far that is my only CON.

Quality of generators has gone downhill
Use caution when purchasing a GP17500E. I own 1 of these units and one GP15000E. After purchasing my 2nd GP17500E the electrical output panel did not work out of the box, the battery needed replaced after a couple hours, stator went out and I spent over $1,500.00 in travel and employees time solving these issues with the help of a certified Generac service center.
