Verizon wireless will be discontinuing its network support for 3G cellular devices in 2022, and depending on your location, possibly sooner. If your generator uses a Mobile Link CDMA accessory this change will impact your generator’s 3G cellular communication to Mobile Link’s monitoring service, but it will have no effect on your generator’s ability to provide power. Maintaining a robust generator connection ensures that you receive a seamless connection to your generator through the Mobile Link app. This also enables your dealer to provide efficient service through the insights that cellular connectivity provides.


The next generation 4G LTE Cellular Accessory is now available as a replacement for your existing hardware. For a special, lower replacement cost of $249.99 for the device and a new lower yearly subscription of $69.99/year, you will receive a reliable connection to your generator when you need it the most. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Overall just junk Generac shipped my generator without any connectivity because of supply chain issues, I get it, that’s fine. They shipped me this WiFi module which you pop in after attaching a few wires, easy enough (can’t imagine paying for this when it should be free for all their generators). Since then it’s been nothing but a headache. It loses WiFi connectivity every 2-3 months despite signal strength being excellent (and confirmed with multiple devices) and no other devices in the house having an issues. Reconnecting it is a pain because the app is junk, slow and unreliable, and half the time it takes more than one attempt which means hours of waiting in between because the app won’t let you reset the WiFi automatically. Also they have the nerve to charge $50/year for basic functionality that their competitors give for free (which I refuse to pay on principle). I regret getting a Generac generator and have warned my friends and neighbors who are thankfully much happier with their competitors’ generators.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mobile Link kit 7071 easy install on 2013 Egen I have a 2013 Guardian 20kw. It was “wifi” ready. Meaning there was a Bosch-type connector in the Control Panel harness ready to accept the new wifi module. Assured I had good wifi signal at my unit before I ordered the kit. Isolated Egen from all power, disconnected battery. Drill the 1-1/8” hole in the reference dimple designated by Generac (marked by label). Routed wifi harness wires neatly and safely as needed inside the enclosure. Connected (mated) harness plugs. Mounted wifi module to engine enclosure as needed using parts provided in kit. Connect wifi harness to battery. Reconnected battery. Use the new Mobile Link app downloaded to smart phone. (You no longer need the old Mobile Link Install app. Generac should be more informative about not needing that old app now.). The new app handles all from install to set-up for your unit. All-in-all the app works well. Connected (joined) to ML signal, follow directions. Then look for and connect to home wifi system same as you would any other device you connect to your system. Use your stronger 2.4GHz channel. Once setup is complete (your app will report that) tweak settings as you like — name your unit, update service info, ID your preferred egen service provider (optional), etc. Return Egen to Auto status. The app will provide all your engine info: run time hours, status, unit tech info, access to manuals….all that stuff. Be advised you CANNOT start/stop your Egen via the app. Only view status. Nor can your change the exercise schedule. Maybe if you buy the “upgraded” version you can do some of this. Not sure. I only have/want the basic service level. All well, wifi functions as designed. I do note the battery status is a bit inaccurate. Usually showing battery charge higher than it may actually be. Likely because it is reporting the charge with the battery on the internal charger. Don’t know that I’d rely 100% on that info. For best info check your battery condition with volt meter while battery is disconnected from the unit. Also listening to engine when it cranks to start. Do note on the older Egen models you may NOT ever — ever — see any wifi info on your Evolution display screen on the Egen, even after successfully installing the 7071 wifi kit. You will ONLY see info on your smart device via the ML app. Newer units will have Wifi info on the display. But not the older models. So don’t take that to mean something is wrong with your wifi installation if on an older model.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Outage monitoring I love the mobile link app, I.just wish it would monitor the transfer switches as well. I recently experienced a situation where only one of my two transfer switches operated. I noticed right away because I was home but If I was away mobile link would say the generator was operating giving the false impression that the whole system was working. Some kind of monitor need’s to report on the transfer switches

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Question about the mobile link app I use the free version of the mobile link app. When logging in yesterday, I noted a popup that said … “This allows the app and the website to share information about you…” With whom? Just one another or with outside parties? We commissioned our 22kw Generac in December 2021. I have logged in to my account using the app a number of times since December but never encountered this pop up. Any insights?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from fasteners (24kw unit) Everybody including the dealer's installers know the fasteners securing the right end panel are a pain. The installer replaced only 2 of the 3 fasteners and now only 1 works. (I could not enter this online because it said page not found.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just had the generator installed. I'm very pleased with the installation and was expecting the generator to come in a crate and unboxed on site. It wasn't in a crate and found that they had an issue with a seal leaking on a few units so they are now doing the break in procedure at their location before bringing the generators out. It had 2 hours on the hour meter and they already changed the oil so the first maintenance was already done and no leaks were detected. I'm very pleased with the work they done and were very thorugh with everything. Apparently the units no longer come with the wifi module to hook the unit up to wifi. You can get the module if you want it hooked up to wifi and apparently it's free but not sure. That's the only thing I was wondering about is if I can get the module free or if there is a charge. Not a big deal since I really don't need to know what it's doing unless I lose power. My reason for getting the generator is because I was tired of dragging my smaller generator out and back feeding the power through a couple plugs and not able to power the whole house. I haven't had it long enough to do it's first excercise but I have faith it will work just fine. I'd like to thank the service men for a job well done as they were training a new guy and he was doing alright with the exception of a couple hang ups...Lol We all gotta learn one way or another huh.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Piece of Mind! We live near the coast and vulnerable to hurricanes. Last year we experienced a record freeze and the electric grid went down. I have a 10 kw gas generator and it’s great but I can’t run everything with it. We talked about it but decided to wait. Later in the year we experienced a hurricane and lost power. I had stock piled gas for my generator but we were out for almost 5 days and 75 gallons of gas. We decided it was time. We purchased a 22kw and the piece of mind has been worth it. We have lost power twice since installing it and it runs my home with no problem.
