PWRcell 2 is a battery storage system that harnesses power from the sun or the electric grid to help you reduce energy costs, minimize your reliance on the electric grid, and be prepared for unexpected power outages. Every PWRcell 2 system consists of one Generac Smart Disconnect Switch (SDS), one inverter, one battery cabinetat least three lithium-ion battery modules, and an ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced. 

PWRcell 2 stores energy from either solar panels or the grid in lithium-ion battery modules. The inverter converts the stored energy from direct current (DC) energy into alternating current (AC) energy which can be used to power your home during peak demand times or utility power outages. 

Generac does not manufacture or distribute solar panels, but our storage solutions are compatible with most panels. Authorized Generac installers can help you select and purchase the right panels for your home, and install the entire system.

How long your battery lasts depends on several factors including how large (kWh) your battery is, how much power your home uses over a certain time, and how much power (kW) your inverter is rated to push through to your house at a given time.

Battery storage system sizing is a critical part of your consultation, so make sure to discuss desired usage plans with your local authorized Generac installer.

PWRcell offers you the ability to offset your usage of the electric grid. During peak demand times, when utility prices are at their highest, the stored energy can be deployed to power your home, helping you minimize usage of the highest cost energy from the grid.
