Generac Gives

Generac Gives is a statement, an attitude and a commitment to being a good neighbor and corporate citizen where our employees live and work. Most importantly, Generac Gives will power possibilities and generate goodness to help foster a smarter and more resilient world. Through our community engagement, we will partner with non-profit organizations and programs that will uplift people and better our world in four specific giving categories: education, disaster response, energy resilience and our community.

Education

We want to inspire, educate and equip students with STEM and AI skills needed for a bright future and a rewarding career that education can help provide.

STEM skills K-12

Our focus is on reaching youth to deliver skill development programs, inspiration and hands-on opportunities in STEM.

Career, College & Tech School Readiness
We want to help people experience pathways for their future through upskilling, apprenticeships and training programs that provide people with new possibilities.

Next Gen Engineers & Electricians

We seek programs that will generate interest in these career paths and AI that supports these functions.

Disaster Response

We will support those that respond to natural disasters, crisis and emergency situations.

Disaster Response & Preparedness

We will support organizations that provide resources and assistance during disasters and help people prepare for and recover from disasters.

First Responders

We will review requests that provide support, recognition, training or tools to local first responders in our communities.

 Energy Resilience  

Energy is essential for people and progress. We want to support programs that enhance, strengthen and diversify energy resiliency in our society.

Energy Education

We will support programs that aim to educate and engage people/students with various energy sources and energy resilience in our society.

Energy Resilience Planning

We will provide grants to municipalities, nonprofits and organizations to devise energy security plans, research and  actionable efforts.

 

Our Communities

We will focus on being a good neighbor where Generac employees live and work.

Donations & Sponsorships

Through sponsorships, contributions and partnerships made by the company and the Generac Foundation, we strive to improve community conditions in our key areas of interest. Nonprofit organizations that serve a Generac community can complete our on-line application for consideration. Requests are reviewed by the Foundation donations committee comprised of Generac employees.

Employee Enabled Giving

We value our employees and encourage them to make an impact in their local community. Generac Gives employee requests are an important part of our overall giving. Employees can apply for a portable product or small cash grant to be donated to a charity they are engaged with. This program enables us to help a cross-section of organizations where our employees live and work, and support the interests of our team.

Powering Up Education

Igniting the next generation of innovators is part of our focus on education and STEM. One of our signature programs is Powering Up Education which supports opportunities for our employees to engage students in their classroom or at one of our facilities. We encourage middle and high schools in our Generac communities to invite us to be part of learning about careers, manufacturing, how we use math in our work, engineering, problem solving, cybersecurity and more.

Generac Volunteers

One of the ways Generac employees make a positive impact and help others is by volunteering. We unite as Generac Volunteers when we give our time as an individual or team to lend a helping hand. From participating in a STEM-related activity and sorting food donations to mentoring youth, cleaning a shelter and helping repair homes, Generac Volunteers have demonstrated their concern for the community.

Every full-time employee is provided with eight hours of volunteer time off that enables people to volunteer during work hours. In addition during National Volunteer Appreciation Week, the Generac Community Spriit Awards are presented recognizing some of our most active volunteers.

Generac Gives in Action

  • Education

    A Generac Foundation grant awarded to GearBox Labs enabled a multi-week STEM-residency to occur at schools in Oshkosh, Jefferson and Beaver Dam Wisconsin. Through this hands-on program students are exposed to current approaches to critical-thinking and they get a taste of technology such as low-voltage electronics and 3D printing.

  • Disaster Response

    When disasters strike, ToolBank Disaster Services deploys tool trailers and expert staff to support response and recovery efforts—empowering volunteers and organizations at no cost. Generac and the Generac Foundation partnered with ToolBank disaster services to provide operational support including through the Power Up with Purpose program which resulted in a new tool trailer.

  • Education

    In partnership with the Independent Electrical Contractors Foundation, we focused on inspiring future electricians through a school outreach program and tools for apprentices. The National Student Challenge Program engaged K–12 students in hands-on STEM and electrical trade activities, inspiring interest in energy careers through interactive kits, real-world problem solving, and mentorship.

  • Energy Resilience

    Through the Innovators Educational Foundation’s events the Generac Foundation supports, the American Solar Challenge and Formula Sun Grand Prix challenge collegiate students to design, build, and drive solar-powered vehicles, pushing the boundaries of energy efficiency, transportation, and high-tech materials. These competitions serve as a global platform for students to apply their knowledge, develop leadership, and showcase sustainable solutions.

  • Education

    MSOE and Generac partnered to offer a one-of-a-kind, multi-week engineering course for middle school classrooms at the MSOE STEM Center. The Generac Youth Engineering Design Academy teaches students concepts in engineering design over the course of the 4 to 5 weeks. The students learn about the engineering design process and how to apply it to solving problems, translate concepts from 2D drawings to 3D designs, learn how to use basic engineering and design software, learn about scaled drawings and how to create them, and fabricate their own designs related to an engineering challenge provided to them.

  • Education

    In several Generac communities we sponsor the local FIRST Robotics team. The program delivers hands-on STEM learning that inspires innovation, builds confidence, and prepares kids for life.

  • Responders

    Generac honors those that served our country in many ways. In Milwaukee, WI, the annual Field of Flags event is a powerful display featuring more than 25,000 American flags to remember the fallen heroes from Wisconsin. Generac is proud to sponsor this event, and our employees also volunteer to plant flags in the ground.

  • Education

    Boys & Girls Clubs across the country provide a safe and enriching place for youth after school. The Generac Foundation powered possibilities by supporting STEM activities hosted by Clubs in several locations including Berlin, WI, Oshkosh, WI, Denver, CO and Marlborough, MA.

  • Sustainability

    KidWind brings clean energy education to classrooms around the globe. Generac sponsored the Wisconsin challenge where student teams built and tested small-scale wind turbines and presented to judges about their designs.

  • Responders

    When disaster strikes, connectivity and communication can become critical issues. That's when the Information Technology Disaster Resource Center steps in, deploying technology services to impacted communities and relief organizations on the ground. The Generac Foundation donation to ITDRC supported their mission, helping them be ready to respond when needed.

  • Sustainability

    Through educational and training programs about renewable energy, Relay Education seeks to help prepare the next generation of green leaders across Canada. A Generac grant funded hands-on energy workshops for students in Toronto and Vancouver.

  • Sustainable

    Our focus on STEM includes supporting FIRST Robotics teams in our Generac communities. High school students are challenged to build industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game in alliance with other teams, while also fundraising to meet their goals, designing a team “brand,” and advancing respect and appreciation for STEM within the local community.

  • Responders

    The Generac Foundation helps address disaster preparedness and response through targeted grants to organizations that provide important infrastructure services when disaster strikes. Donations were awarded to SBP, Toolbank Disaster Services, ALAN and more to provide help when it is needed.

    One of the ways Generac demonstrates its appreciation to veterans and military families is by being the presenting sponsor of the Wisconsin Veterans Day Parade

  • Responders

    Milwaukee County War Memorial is hosting the “Until They Are Home” exhibit fueled by funding from the Generac Foundation. The exhibit focuses on Wisconsin service members who were POW/MIA to share their expreinces and so they are never forgotten.

  • Education

    Ignighting interest in STEM was part of the Discovery World’s summer STEM camps supported by the Generac Foundation. Youth participated in hands-on learning and challenges with robots and through coding. This was one of several STEM camps the Foundation contributed to.

  • Sustainability

    Thanks to a donation from Generac, an outdoor education space and welcome center now exists for the Arboretum in Starin Park in Whitewater Wisconsin. Generac funded the shelter construction materials and employees built the structure together. The outdoor classroom will feature curriculum that connects youth to nature and teaches the fundamentals of stewardship and ecology.

  • Sustainability

    We Share Solar is a hands-on educational program that links STEM skills with sustainability and global humanitarian service. A Generac grant enabled high school students to build two solar suitcases and learn more about clean energy. One of the solar suitcases was then sent to a school in an energy-scare region of the world to help another student have light for learning.
